We started with the chain we couldn't find

Every man who wears a chain has owned the cheap one — light in the hand, bright for a month, green by summer. Most have looked at the other kind too: a famous name, a four-figure price, more shine than anyone needs.

HALDEN is the one in between. Solid links instead of hollow ones. Gold bonded to steel instead of brushed over brass. A clasp that locks flat. No logo on the outside, nothing to explain.

We make a short list on purpose — five pieces to start, each one sized properly and photographed as it is. When we add another, it will be because it is as solid as the rest.

How a piece is finished

Polished by hand

After the gold goes on, every chain is polished by hand so the links run smooth against the skin.

Checked up close

Settings, edges and clasps are looked at under a loupe. A piece that catches or rattles doesn't ship.

Boxed in black

Each piece goes into a soft-touch black box on a felt pad, so it arrives the way it left.
